Nominating a business for the CB9 Business Awards

There are eleven individual categories; in addition all entries will automatically be entered into the Business of the Year Award.

It’s easy to nominate a business. Simply complete the questions on the enclosed form! There is a maximum of just 34 questions, which won’t take long to complete. Some of the questions are relevant to particular categories and can be left out if not applicable.

The deadline for entries is 18th April 2008

Sponsorship Categories 2008

Business of the Year Award

Entries to all categories will automatically be entered into the Business of the Year Category. The award will be made to the business that the judges think has achieved something extraordinary.

Large Business Award
Sponsored by TBC

This award is open to any company in the area, which normally employs more than 25 full-time staff. The judges will look for excellence in all areas of the business, a proven record of success and leadership within the community.

Small Business Award
Sponsored by Haverhill Business Park

This award is open to any company that normally employs no more than 25 full-time staff. The judges will look for evidence of innovation and success in its market sector.

Retailer of the Year Award
Sponsored by M&M Leisure

This award is open to any local retail outlet, restaurant, pub or café. The judges will look at merchandising, customer service, new concepts, staff training and community involvement.

Customer Care and Service Award
Sponsored by Printwise (Haverhill) Ltd

This award is open to any business that consciously strives to improve their customer service or does something extraordinary for their clients. The judges will look for evidence and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Export Achievement Award
Sponsored by IFF

This award is open to any business that has actively exported for at least two years as at 31st December 2007. The judges will require evidence of export achievement.

Best Use of Technology Award
Sponsored by Genzyme Ltd

This award is open to any local business that can demonstrate effective use of information or communications technology. They will require evidence of a clear and innovative strategy and imaginative use of both internal and external resources.

Young Entrepreneur Award
Sponsored by Days Inn Hotel

This award is open to any business person under the age of 35 who has demonstrated outstanding creativity, drive, enthusiasm and innovation in their field. The judges will look for evidence of originality and business achievement.

Employer of the Year Award
Sponsored by Sigma-Genosys UK

This award is open to any business, large or small, that has done something special to support staff, to involve them in developing the business or to bring out their full potential. It could be something involving all your staff, a particular team or even a single individual.

New Business Award
Sponsored by MENTA

This award is open to new businesses between one and three years old. The judges will look at how the business has progressed since the initial concept and the feasibility of the ongoing business plan.

Environmental Awareness Award
Sponsored by Grampian Country Food Group

This award is open to any local business that has shown a commitment to minimising its impact on the environment. The judges will look for evidence of environmental policy, innovation in environmental management and notable environmental achievements.

The Marketing Strategy of the Year Award
Sponsored by West Suffolk College

This award is open to any business that has implemented a successful marketing campaign during the two years preceding 31 December 2007.
